Children meet AI every day: chatbots for homework, apps that make pictures, feeds that choose what they watch, and AI “friends” to chat with. AI can help children learn and create, but it also brings new risks. This free, short course helps parents, carers and teachers support children to use AI well and stay safe.
Who it’s for
Parents, carers, grandparents, teachers, youth workers and anyone who cares for children. No technical knowledge needed.
What you’ll learn
- How children use AI.
- How AI can support learning, and fair rules for homework.
- Risks from chatbots, AI companions and harmful content.
- What to do about fake images, image abuse and sextortion.
- How to protect children’s data and privacy.
- How to talk with children, set rules, and get help.
How it works
Six short modules, about 3.5 hours in total, with five-minute lessons, quick practice and a short check after each module. All stories and examples use made-up people.
If a child is in danger or being harmed, contact the police or your national child helpline straight away.
Certificate
Finish all six modules to earn a certificate of completion and a badge you can share.
